VOLUNTEER!

VOLUNTEER AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE LIFE OF A PROMISING BALTIMORE CITY STUDENT!!

VOLUNTEER TUTORS are needed to work with our students once a week!

¡Adelante Latina! meets from early September to late May and follows the Baltimore City Public School calendar.  The program takes place twice a week from 4:15-6:15 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Notre Dame of Maryland University.  On one day, students meet as sophomore, junior and senior cohorts with a teacher; on the other day each student has her own tutor. The hope is for tutors to continue with the same student for all three years of the program.

Tutors are expected to speak proper English and enjoy working with teenagers.  Although teaching/tutoring experience is not required, it is helpful.  Tutors work with their students on assignments provided by ¡Adelante Latina! teachers focused on high school level reading comprehension, writing skills and vocabulary.

No knowledge of Spanish is required!!

The dynamic students of ¡Adelante Latina! are engaging and inspiring.  I have been volunteering since 2015 and I love it!”  — Dr. John Sinnigen, Professor Emeritus of Spanish and Intercultural Communications, Modern Languages and Linguistics, UMBC.
